On 11th March 2019, the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) released a number of additions and changes to its Skilled Occupation list line up. It’s a welcome announcement for skilled professionals hoping to secure an Australian visa, opening up some entirely new avenues and expanding on others.
From this Monday, 216 skilled occupations in total are now eligible for the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) whilst 508 skilled occupations are now eligible for Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482). See below for a breakdown of the new additions to the MLTSSL & STSOL lists.
Another ‘win’ for sponsoring businesses can be seen in the modified visa conditions for the profession of ‘recruitment consultant’. A previously held caveat was an annual minimum salary of $90,000 which has now been reduced to a more viable annual minimum salary of $80,000.
Further to newly created positions on the list for professions such as University Lecturer and Environmental Manager, there has also been movement of certain skills from the STSOL over to the MLTSSL, thereby improving the pathway to permanent residency for those relevant professionals.
